Owner Bio

The Owner’s goal is to provide you with a great experience that you will cherish forever, while providing insight into our beautiful state and using sustainable business practices.

Darcie, the owner and operator of Get Out of Town Tours is a fourth generation Oregonian who grew up roaming the backwoods of Oregon and the Oregon Coast.

She spent many years as a tour guide at a local historical landmark. She has traveled extensively around the state of Oregon. She has spent much of the past 15 years creating and hosting events with several social and singles groups while also caring for, and being a companion to, her grandmother (that didn’t like to stay home!).

Her personal library includes books on local ecology, wolves, beavers, whales, geology and Native Peoples and guide books on plants, trees, birds and mammals of Oregon and Washington.

Volunteer work includes classes to learn about wetland ecology in exchange for volunteer work at Jackson Bottom Wetlands; Nature Guide for Nature Conservancy Oregon; planting trees and other native plants and learning about native plants from Willamette Riverkeepers and other local conservation agencies; staffing trade show booths to support and promote local conservation agencies and she is a trained whale watch volunteer for Whale Watch Spoken Here.

She is continually learning and upgrading her skills and knowledge and researches each individual tour/event, right down to taste testing the food from the caterers and each restaurant included on tours.

We hope you enjoy our tours and events and look forward to meeting you!
