Join Get Out of Town Tours as we explore Small Town Oregon! These fun full day tours will help us step into the past, present and future of small towns in Oregon. We’ll see the remains of ones that didn’t make it and the quiet bustle of those that have. What niche have these successful small towns been able to hold on to? Come along and find out! These towns are much more than "suburbs of Portland". Many of them were established before Portland was considered a "city".

These tours are a mix of history, political science, country drives and "Main Street USA" - Oregon style!

All tours leave the metro area at 9:00 and return between 5-6 pm. All tours include lunch.

Oregon City/Molalla/Canby

Today we’ll take you on a trip through time starting with the First American City West of the Rocky Mtns - Oregon City. We’ll drive through the historic McLoughlin District to view beautifully restored and maintained homes of years past and stop for a quick look at the McLoughlin House Historic Site.

Next: Molalla - This former logging town has struggled in recent years but is making a comeback as more and more "city slickers" choose to live a rural lifestyle. Molalla is home to the famous Molalla Buckaroo and the Historic Dibble House.

Next Stop: Canby - This farming community is home to the Clackamas County Fairgrounds and one of the oldest railroad stations in the Country. We’ll take some time to explore the now restored station that has become a museum.

Silverton and the Oregon Garden

This day tour takes us through Clackamas County Wine Country to beautiful, historic Silverton. We’ll stop at a winery in downtown Silverton or between Silverton and The Oregon Gardens*. In Silverton we will wander the streets to view the famous Murals and take in the old town charm of this wonderful town. After lunch (included) we will head to the Oregon Garden to wander among the flowers, plants and trees. All in all a wonderful, relaxing day!

*The wine tasting stop will depend on which tasting rooms are open. (Tasting fee not included.)

Troutdale/Hood River Valley

Today’s tour combines wine tasting, history, fruit growing and beautiful scenery!

We’ll start out by driving through historic Troutdale on our way to the "old highway". We’ll stop at a couple waterfalls as we drive through the National Scenic Area known to locals simply as "The Gorge" or "going to the waterfalls". We’ll pass through the small community of Corbett on our way to the falls. After we visit the falls we are off to Hood River and the Hood River Valley. The Valley is famous for growing the best cherries, apples and pears in the Pacific Northwest.

The "fruit loop" takes us to many scenic vistas, past numerous fruit stands and fruit orchards and through several small towns whose livelihoods depend on the fruit growing seasons. We’ll spend the day exploring this wonderful region, sampling fruits, wines and snacking on some tasty treats*!

Then its time to relax and enjoy the scenery as we meander over Mt. Hood and take the "other side" back to the Metro area.

*Fruit & treat tasting depends on the time of year you take this tour. This tour runs from Spring to Fall depending on snowfall and can be modified to exclude the return over Mt. Hood. (We’ll fill the time with other fun things!)

*Tour itineraries subject to change depending on time constraints, weather and preferences of the group.
